Rhodes is one of the largest and most fertile islands of Greece. He is also one of the most visited because of the fact that here (as, for example, in Crete), every tourist will find something to his taste. Great beaches? You are welcome. Archaeological sites? As many as you like. Medieval ancient cities with narrow streets, souvenir shops and seaside promenades? Yes, yes and yes again. The climate of Rhodes is especially good, during the season the weather is usually mild and cloudless: the sun shines here more than 300 days a year.

Officially, Rhodes belongs to the Dodecanese archipelago, but because of its size and independent importance it is always treated separately. As for the name of the island, historians argue until now: whether it came from the word "rose" (there are many stone roses on Rhodes), or from the word "red". The northern shore is known for its lively tourist resorts; On the south it is quieter, and life is slower.

Most of the beaches of Rhodes are not sandy, but pebble, they are clean, beautiful and perfectly suitable for swimming - including with children. The only drawback is that in the season of tourists on the island very, very much. But in this you can find the positive side: the service staff almost everywhere speaks at least English and German, and even in Swedish, Finnish and Russian.
